Making Faces
with Sarah Holdcroft
Tuesday 11th May 2010  *Twilight session* 4pm – 7pm
The first of three workshops using portraits as their theme. Based on the work of Guiseppe Archimboldo, (16c Italian Painter) this workshop will introduce you to his unique approach to collage encouraging you to explore and utilise unusual materials to produce large scale group work as well as individual portraits.
Cost: £30 (includes materials, light buffet & refreshments)
MOSAIC
with Mosaic Madness from Bristol
Wednesday 12th May 2010  10am – 3pm
Your chance to really get to grips with how simple and effective mosaic is to do. Learn how to produce a beautiful outdoor paving piece, how to lead a group project and also the simplicity of making small decorative objects using everyday and reclaimed materials. Felt Making

Saturday 15th May 2010  10am – 3pm
We’re delighted to welcome back Sarah to take you through the magical art of felt making. Learn the basic principles of felting individual and group pieces. Explore how to stimulate ideas through the use of themes, stories and words. Bring an apron and be prepared to be enchanted.

Making Faces

Tuesday 18th May 2010  *Twilight session* 4pm – 7pm
The second in the Making Faces series of workshops. Andy Warhol (20c American Painter) is one of the best known painters in recent times and will be familiar to most young people. Participants will learn print making techniques to layer images to develop portraits in his familiar style.

Book Making
with Lizzie Godden
Wednesday 19th May 2010  10am – 3pm
This workshop was such a success last year that we decided to hold it again. Books are always a treasured possession and none more so than if it has been designed and made personally. Learn a range of intriguing and beautiful ways to bind and collate. The techniques can be made to suit whatever age or ability you are working with.

Making Faces

The final in this series of workshops. Using different resist methods participants will explore the work of John Muafangejo (21c African Printmaker). Work with vibrant colour and textures familiar to that continent to produce images reflecting different African cultures.

Pottery
with Patrick Esson
Thursday 27th May 2010  10am – 3pm
Patrick is an experienced Community Artist working with groups throughout the county. With his kiln set up at City Works he is also able to offer to fire clay work for groups. Patrick will take you through coiling, pinching, using slip and basic decoration. You will also make a tile and explore group project ideas.

3D models
with Sara Weaving
Thursday 17th June 2010  10am - 3pm
Sara returns with her inspirational approach to model making. They are always beautiful, quirky and move in mysterious ways! Come and be inspired to learn the simple techniques involved in building models that can easily be used to devise an animation project.

This workshop has been tried and tested with Year 6 children and was a great success!
